Residents of Franklin are urged to call the hotline or email, if they have experienced or witnessed bias-motivated threats, harassment, or violence. The Freedom Team provides support, recourse and opportunity for reconciliation to people who experience threats, harassment or violence related to race, color, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, or class.
The hotline is monitored by the Franklin Police Department and designated members of the team. While not every incident will be appropriate for legal action, the Franklin Police will work closely with the Freedom Team to support victims and educate where appropriate.
Potential Hate Crimes - including bias-motivated assault, battery and property damage - should also be reported directly to the Franklin Police Department as soon as practical. Residents who fear for their immediate safety or have an emergency should call 911 immediately.
